IdentitySankalan is a singer songwriter/teacher/string instrumentalist from Kolkata, currently based in Mumbai. Originally trained in Traditional Eastern Classical Sitar from the age of five, around the age of fifteen he started also exploring the Guitar and the Mandolin which have now become his primary instruments while playing with his indie band of six, Rejected Cartoons.
Singing was something innate since the start and the Guitar helped him to further hone his skills in vocals. Inspired by iconic musicians like Ustd. Vilayat Khan, Pdt. Nikhil Banerjee, John Denver, Bryan Adams, Myles Kennedy, Steven Wilson and many more, Sankalan finds his own style of playing and teaching involving both Eastern and Western ways of learning.
With a teaching experience of 6 years, Sankalan believes teaching is the best way to learn.
