The aim has always been to satisfy the goals. Focusing on specific movements which mimics your day to day activities are incorporated in the training program. Progression is mandatory I believe but making it more fun are the skills of a trainer so that an exercise should not look too mainstream to be performed. I emphasise on a strength endurance based training programs E.g.; Mobility, stability, power drills followed by a circuit. Been following the functional training and crossfit style training from 2 years. A really excellent way to stay more fitter.
