Kuchipudi Dance Academy

The intricate dance form of Kuchipudi was popularized in Maharashtra by Guru Smt. Vijaya Prasad. She established the Kuchipudi Dance Academy in 1981 in dombivali to create awareness and growth of this dance form here. The Kuchipudi Dance Academy is the first and only registered kuchipudi dance forum in Maharashtra. It imparts training to students in this art form under the guru-shishya parampara. The journey of the academy has been far from easy but after having completed more than 3 decades of existence and combined with the constant efforts and encouragement of Guru Vijaya ji, the academy now has branches run by senior students at Thane and Dombivali. Students of the academy have received prestigious fellowships and scholarships from the Cultural Department, Govt. of India for training and research done in Kuchipudi. Students have given performances at various prestigious dance festivals such as Siddhendra Jayantotsav, Andhra Pradesh, Kuchipudi Mahotsav by Sangeet Natak Academy, Kal-ke-Kalakaar Sammelan, Swami Haridas Sammelan, Nritya Ankur, Nritya Avishkar festivals, Kal-ki-Khoj Mahotsav by Nehru Center, to name a few.
