Teaching Experience in detail in Interior Designing classes

With over 10 years of experience in the interior design industry, I have developed a teaching approach that focuses on building a strong foundation before moving toward advanced and complex design concepts. My aim as an educator is not only to teach design theory, but also to prepare students for the practical realities of the interior design profession. My teaching methodology begins with the basics of design understanding, space utilization, measurements, and planning principles. Once students gain confidence in the fundamentals, I gradually introduce them to more detailed and technical aspects of interior design. This step-by-step learning process helps students understand concepts clearly and apply them effectively in real projects. The course is structured with 3 sessions per week over a duration of 6 months, ensuring consistent learning and practical exposure. The subjects covered include interior space planning, concept development, mood boards, material knowledge, electrical planning, false ceiling design, paint selection, civil work, plumbing basics, woodworking, and carpentry detailing. Students are also introduced to AI-based 3D design development tools that help them visualize concepts, generate presentations, and understand modern design workflows. In addition, I teach the practical application of AI-assisted Vastu Shastra analysis to help students understand spatial balance and planning from both functional and traditional perspectives. One of the key strengths of my teaching style is practical learning. I strongly believe that interior design cannot be learned only through classroom discussions or software training. To bridge the gap between theory and execution, I regularly take students across Mumbai to active project sites, workshops, material markets, and ongoing interior executions. These onsite visits help students understand actual site conditions, measurements, detailing, workmanship, and problem-solving in real-time situations. Through this hands-on approach, students gain confidence in interacting with vendors, contractors, carpenters, electricians, and site teams. They learn how drawings are translated into reality and understand the importance of execution accuracy and site management. My objective as a mentor is to create industry-ready designers who possess both creative thinking and practical knowledge. By combining technical education with real-world exposure, I strive to help students develop confidence, professionalism, and a deeper understanding of the interior design field.
