The following steps can be taken to control soil erosion:
1. Ploughing along the contour lines can decelerate the flow of water down the slopes called as contpu ploughing.
2. Terrace Cultivation
3. Strip cropping.
4. Planting lines of trees to create shelter also works in a similar way.
These shelterbelts have contributed significantly to the stabilsation of sand dunes and in satbilising the desert.
