Arjun Chakraborty

Arjun Chakraborty, a 22-year-old jazz drummer based in Mumbai, was born in Kolkata and has quickly become one of the most exciting young voices in the Indian jazz scene. He has performed with leading jazz musicians from India and abroad, including Sharik Hasan, Charles Parker, Paul Livingstone, Avishek Dey, Nastya Saraswati, Elchin Shirinov, Andre Di Biase, Roberto Tarenzi, Pekka Pylkkänen, Arka Chakraborty, Clement Rooney, Mark Hartsuch, Emmanuel Simon, Srinjay Banerjee, Guy Bernfeld, and Shreya Bhattacharya, among many others.

Arjun has been a regular presence at major festivals and jazz venues across India and internationally. His performances include Troy Bar (London), Orleans Basement Bar (London), Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre, Jazz at Prithvi Theatre, Mumbai Jazz Festival, Bandra Jazz Fest, Royal Opera House, International Jazz Day at NCPA, That Friday Jazz (G5A), Bluebop Café, Shisha Jazz Festival, Piano Man Jazz Club, Skinny Mo’s Jazz Club, and several other renowned stages.

In 2020, Arjun was honoured with the Young Artiste Award, placing in the top 5 out of 10,000 participants. The same year, he represented India internationally after winning Drum-Off India. He is currently an official endorser of Pergamon Cymbals.

Alongside his work in jazz, Arjun has performed at numerous private gigs with respected artists, including Bollywood singer Noor Chahal. He is presently an active freelancer performing across the country and maintains a thriving roster of private students, where he focuses on cultivating strong, healthy musical foundations. Arjun is currently studying at Jazzcampus (Basel, Switzerland) as a presidential scholar and was awarded acceptance as the only the second instrumentalist to be selected from South East Asia.
