I am a FIDE-rated (1953) and National level chess player with over 12 years of competitive playing experience. I offer structured online chess coaching for players of all levels, from complete beginners to improving club and competitive players.

For beginners, I start with strong fundamentals: piece values, basic checkmates (queen mate, rook mate) and core principles such as piece development, king safety and central control. I focus on helping students understand why concepts work (for example, bishops in open positions and knights in closed positions) rather than memorizing rules.

Once the basics are clear, students are introduced to classical openings such as the Ruy Lopez, with emphasis on ideas, plans and common mistakes instead of rote theory. Tactical training is a core part of every class, with regular puzzle work on forks, pins, discovered attacks, and basic combinations to reduce blunders and improve calculation.

Endgame training starts from essential king and pawn endgames and progresses to practical endgames that occur frequently in real games. I also conduct practice games with in-depth analysis, training students to think independently, understand opponents’ ideas and make better decisions during games.
