White box, black box, and gray box are all types of software testing that differ in the amount of information available to the tester: White box testing Testers have full access to the target system's internal structures, including the code, logic, and data flow. This technique is also known as clear box or glass box testing. White box testing is useful for unit testing, mutation testing, and testing for memory leaks. Black box testing Testers have no information about the system's internal structure, and focus on the system's user-facing functions. Black box testing is useful for functional testing, non-functional testing, and regression testing. Gray box testing Testers have some information about the system's internal structure, but not as much as white box testers. Gray box testing is useful for testing APIs or third-party integrations, and for integration testing of new features. When combined, these three types of testing can provide a comprehensive evaluation of a software's internal operations and external functionality. read less
