Black box testing is often used later in the development process, while white box testing is more beneficial in the earlier stages. Alpha and beta testing Alpha testing uses both black and white box testing, while beta testing usually only uses black box testing. Alpha testing is done by internal employees, while beta testing is done by end users or clients. Alpha testing is done in a controlled environment, while beta testing is done at the end user's location.
