I have hands-on teaching experience in SolidWorks gained during my time as a Mechanical Design Engineer at CADTECH Design Academy, where I trained 200+ engineering students and working professionals in SolidWorks as part of a structured design engineering programme. My SolidWorks training covers the complete workflow that employers actually expect — from basic part modelling and sketch constraints all the way through to complex assemblies, sheet metal design, and 2D drawing generation. Here is what I cover in my SolidWorks sessions: Part Modelling — Sketching with full constraints, boss extrude, cut extrude, revolve, sweep, loft, fillet, chamfer, and shell. Students learn to build clean, fully defined models from engineering inputs and sketches. Assembly Modelling — Inserting components, applying mates — coincident, concentric, parallel, distance — building bottom-up and top-down assemblies, interference detection, and exploded views. Sheet Metal Design — Base flange, edge flange, miter flange, hem, bend allowance, K-factor, and flat pattern generation for laser cutting and bending workflows. Drawing and Documentation — Generating 2D drawings from 3D models, setting up drawing templates, adding views, dimensions, BOM tables, and balloons — all to ISO standards. FEA Basics using SolidWorks Simulation — Applying materials, fixtures, and loads, running static studies, interpreting stress and displacement results, and understanding when a design needs to be revised. My sessions are practical and project based — students work on real parts and assemblies throughout, so by the end they have portfolio pieces they can show to employers.
