As a student and researcher in Psychology, I am writing to apply for the position of Assistant Professor in the Department Psychology, as advertised on your departmental website. I have submitted my Ph.D thesis on â??Emotional Competence and Psychological Resilience as predictors of mental health among Kashmiri youthâ?? for the award of Ph.D degree at the Department of Psychology, Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh, India. All the requirements of the Ph.D degree are expected to be completed by April, 2019. As a researcher and student , I am much interested in to work as a faculty member in your esteemed university, where I can contribute in the teaching sphere as well as continue research to contribute in the field of psychology, especially in Positive Psychology. My thrust areas in Psychology are Positive Psychology, Organizational behaviour, Mental Health and Research Methodology. My academic training and research experience have prepared me to be an effective researcher and instructor in the discipline of Psychology. I believe if selected as a faculty member in your esteemed university, my researcher experience and knowledge shall prove to be of great. I believe my talents will be utilized in maximum and I shall try to prove and improve myself in your prestigious university.

My doctoral dissertation was supervised by Dr. Shah Mohd.Khan, Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology, Aligarh Muslim University, wherein I have examined and analyzed the samples I have chosen with the use of a relatively new methodology and statistical analysis. During my research, I developed the Psychological Resilience scale. I am excited to share and continue to explore this methodology and collaborate with fellow researchers and faculty of your prestigious university to expand its potential.
In addition to my dissertation research, other areas that interest me for my future research, stem from my goal of developing improved analytical models and methods for design. I am able to teach and conduct counseling sessions as I have a post graduate diploma in Guidance and counseling. I found that my professional experience as a researcher provided me with a broad view that is useful in assisting students with various research projects and assignments. These experiences have built in me confidence and an interest in teaching.
I look forward to get an opportunity to teach not only existing courses, but I would also like work to develop new ones. I would enjoy discussing this position with you in the weeks to come.
