An alumni of La Martiniere Girls' College, I have always been exposed to an environment that has equated my communication skills in English to that of my mother tongue: Urdu as well as Hindi. In secondary school I opted for a subject known as Literature in English( along with mandatory English taught by ICSE board). This trivial decision dictated my futuristic literary endeavours as it initially cultivated my interest in English Literature as a discipline. After completing my secondary schooling I went to University of Lucknow to pursue higher studies i.e. English(hons) at the Department of English and Modern European Languages followed by Masters in the same . My experiences at this exuberant department enhanced my literary horizon and rendered me a nuanced understanding of English Literature.
I have had prior teaching experience as a spoken communication trainer at an institute and also as a private tutor to a CBSE board student . My pedagogy to teach is simple : Initially I would give detailed lectures to my students based on their syllabus. Then, I would follow it by sharing a plethora of material(on the same) online through WhatsApp or other apps. I would also guide them as to how one should write answers in exams to score well( a major reason why most students acquire a second division in exams) . Also, while teaching I would acquaint my students to the questions that can be asked in exams . If my students would volunteer I would also encourage them to send me (online) answer scripts attempting important questions for evaluation to ensure their conceptual clarity . Doubt clearing is also an important aspect of my teaching pedagogy. The student is free to raise query during the lecture or through sms or WhatsApp post lecture . However, I would also designate a separate hour once every week to clarify doubt's.
A recent post graduate, I was always a regular student and got the opportunity to be taught by respectable academicians in this field. Thus literary concepts remain fresh in my mind and thence I ensure to engage lectures promising conceptual clarity. Also, since I wish to build a career in english academia I keep participating in lecture series, webinars and online workshops to strengthen my hold on the subject which would surely benefit my students acquirers .
My continuous emphasis on online medium of exchange is because of the ongoing pandemic. As the situation would improvise I might render the option of studying at my home to my students.
