Can we replace our Windows OS with Linux OS on our PC?

1.Backup your data into another device. Your windows installation folder typically drive C: will be formatted. 2.Download the image of the linux distro you want and burn it into a disk or to a pendrive(make sure you make it bootable).

Surely you can. However, if you are comfortable with MS Office then it would take a bit of time to get habituated in Open/Libre Office in Linux. I prefer Ubuntu distribution from canonical (www.ubuntu.com) for starters and Pro as well. 1. Take a backup of Windows C & D into external HDD/Pendrive. 2. Download the .iso from ubuntu site (https://www.ubuntu.com/download/desktop) 3. See the tutorials (in the Downloads page see at the bottom) on how to install from a DVD or USB Pendrive OR try before installing it. You can also install Ubuntu on an external Pen/HDD and I prefer that for beginners as you can always keep your current installation till the time you are comfortable and revert back anytime. 5. Also once comfortable and installed ubuntu in your laptop you can always have VirtualBox of VMWare Player to Install Windows as a Virtual Machine (you can use the same license key on your laptop Windows - most of the cases it works as I have seen).
