Q.3 A and B contribute Rs. 80,000 and Rs 40,000 respectively by way of capital on which they agree to pay interest @ 6% p.a. Their respective share of profit is 2:3 and the business profit (before interest) for the year is 6,000. Show the relevant account to allocate interest about the treatment of interest on capital.

Q.4 It was discovered that in arriving at the profit for 2006, the following two items have been ignored.

(ii) Accurate interest on investment of Rs 2,000

Make journal entries relevant to adjustments.

Q.5 A, B and C shared the profit of Rs. 9,00,000 in the ratio of 2:2:1 without providing for interest on B’s loan, B granted a loan of Rs. 4,00,000 in the beginning of accounting year. Whereas the partnership deed is silent on the interest on loan and the profit sharing ratio. Give adjusting entry.

Q.6 Calculate interest on X’s drawings @ 12% if he withdraws Rs. 2,000 per month during the year.

In any system, a feedback loop can be identified as a set of interlinkages between processes, where an event may positively or negatively impact the original process.

If we consider an organization as a system, with its own set of rules, policies and procedures, then any strategic decision can either have a positive or negative impact on the overall performance. For example, in case of a merger, it may result in greater revenues for the organization.

Feedback loops are a mechanism that provide feedback or information to the leadership, whether processes and internal controls are in place or not.

A positive feedback loop would mean that processes and controls are adequate. On the other hand, a negative feedback loop may point towards faulty processes or such other issues that would need to be rectified.

Cognitive bias is quite common in most social and workplace situations. For example, Rachel, one of your friends, may feel strongly about environmental issues and invest in products with organic or natural origins.

She feels that every one of her seven friends(including you) in her social group also likely to invest in such products.

Let's say that you are out shopping with your groupmates, and a sales rep comes upto your group and asks you to purchase a non-organic cosmetic product, Rachel refuses.

What she is trying to convey here is that everyone else in the group has a similar taste and preference as far as natural products are concerned. However, one of your friends, Laura disagrees and proceeds to buy it, as she perceives it to be useful.

Rachel is concerned about her decision and asks the rest of the group, whether they agree with Laura's opinion or hers. Only one of your friends supports Laura's argument.

In this case, Rachel has just faced what we call a 'false consensus bias.'

So, what does this mean?

Simply put, the false consensus bias is the tendency of individuals to overestimate the degree to which others share or agree with their opinions, attitudes, beliefs and the like.

This is more common in a group setting where people want to believe that their opinions and outlook is more prevalent in the general public than it is.

The false consensus effect is more substantial when it comes to certain situations. If one adheres to secure moral codes and values, and he/she believes it to be essential and correct, the degree of false consensus tends to be stronger.

A cost leadership strategy is often used by firms to increase their consumer base and sales, by reducing their costs of operation in comparison to competitors.

Price levels influence the conventional customer's purchase decision, and more often than not, people always buy products that are reasonably priced.

A cost-leadership strategy is a result of economies of scale and production efficiencies, achieved through innovation and higher output levels within the firm.

To become a cost leader, an organization must adopt at least one of the following strategies:

- Maximize profits by cost reduction while maintaining industry-average prices.

- Charging lower rates for a product or service that leads to an increase in sales and market share, registering overall profits on each sale.
