Dear Mam/Sir Its Abhilash from Himachal Pradesh. I have done Bachelor Degree and Software Engineering (3 years diploma). I want to go abroad but I am not getting that which foreign language I should learn so that software engineering can also beneficial with that language. I have 4-5 months to learn foreign language but I am not getting which one can be the best. So I just want some suggestions.

Hi Abhilash, I am glad you want to learn a foreign language as an added skill. The choice of language largely depends on where you are looking for career opportunities. The most widely spoken languages in the world are Mandarin and Spanish while the most widely spoken languages in Europe are German, followed by Italian and English. The other point I want to mention is that you cannot master a language in 4-5 months. At best, you could finish 2-3 levels and will be capable of basic communication. I also suggest, check which language you have a flair for. I hope this answer helps. read less

All these languages are great as they give you insights into their respective cultures. And, Language is the gateway to a culture. English Speaking countries like Canada, Australia & New Zealand speak ONLY English and they expect you to be comfortable with the language in all it's forms Listening, Reading, writing & Speaking. A test for validating these competencies has been designed by University of Cambridge , it's called IELTS . I give you exemple: if you are thinking to travel to middle east like Dubai, QatQatar or Sharjah. It is a must to know Arabic. If you are thinking countries like Canada or Europe.. Most of them use French. Apart from France who use this language , you have switzerland, Belgium and other countries in the world like in north Africa as Tunisia, Algeria ..etc And you have Spanish and Portuguise in the rest of the world.
