Sohini C.

I am an independent researcher and educator with a
Master's degree in Sociology from St.
Xavier's College (Autonomous), Kolkata,
and a UGC-NET qualification in the same
discipline. I am currently preparing to get
enrolled in my PhD, with research interests
rooted in gender and sexuality studies,
marginalisation, inequality, public policy,
and the cultural politics of representation.
My work critically engages with media, art,
and symbolic structures to explore how
identities are constructed, contested, and
resisted in contemporary society. With an
interdisciplinary lens and a strong
commitment to critical inquiry, I strive to
bring both analytical depth and social
sensitivity to my academic pursuits.

Dissertation- Manifestation of QUEERED plots: A comparative analysis of
Korean & Indian fanfictions -The study is a comparative analysis on BTS and
Bollywood Gay Fanfictions. This research studied the politics around queer
media projections in relation to the simultaneous creation of fanfics mapping
the queer social belonging in comparison between Korean and Indian
standards.

During my years in Post-graduation, I was an ardent enthusiast in presenting
