Dr. Subrata Mondal passed Bachelor in Mechanical Engineering from Jalpaiguri Govt. Engineering College In 1984 and subsequently he did his Master Degree in Mechanical Engineering (Specialization in Heat Power) from Jadavpur University and Ph.D In Engineering from Jadavpur University. Besides the above he did his Master of Business Administration (Specialization in Marketing) from University of Calcutta.
After around Seven years of Industrial experience in different Govt. of West Bengal and Govt. of India undertaking Organization at different position Including erection and commissioning experience to establish a process plant, he joined as Faculty Member at Jalpaiguri Govt. Engineering College through Public Service Commission, West Bengal Selection in 1993. After that he has served different Engineering College including State Administration in Technical Education of West Bengal about 5 years and then he had served at Jadavpur University during 1998 — 2003. During the tenure at Jadavpur University he had been nominated as Dean of Students at Jadavpur University about 2 yrs. After that he had again joined at Jalpaiguri Govt. Engg. College as Professor. He taught many subjects like Engineering Mechanics, Thermodynamics, Heat Power etc. However, apart from his teaching he guided many thesis works of engineering students In the field of Mechanical Engineering. He has visited different places in India and outside of India for academic purpose and presentation of his research paper.
He is the author of some Engineering books and also performs his duty as AICTE expert to Inspect of different Engineering Colleges in India. He was the examiner of different University also. He is life member of different Professional bodies.He is also a NAAC ASSESSOR.Number of colleges throughout the INDIA has been inspected by him as a NAAC ASSESSOR.
After 2006, he has been selected as Principal for Govt. Engineering College through Public Service Commission West Bengal. So he had served as Principal at different Govt. (West Bengal) Engineering Colleges in and around Kolkata, West Bengal up to year of 2020. After his retirement in the year 2020, he had been selected as Technical Education Expert of Govt. of Bihar.
He has given his expertise in individual capacity at different time to different Industries for the national benefit.
Presently he is working as Principal at Haldia Institute of Technology (NAAC 'A' grade and NIRF Ranking College) which is the first self-financial Engineering College In West Bengal established in the year of 1996. It has fourteen number Undergraduate courses and nine number Postgraduate courses which are running successfully. Where all courses are NBA accredited. Here student strength is more than five thousands. Teacher strength more than three hundred. Beside of Teaching and learning, number of Project works (Grant received from Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of India, AICTE etc.) and numbers of research work for pursuing Ph.D. degree are also running here. Numbers of consultancy works received from Kolkata Port Trust, Haldia Dock Complex, Indian Oil
Corporation etc. are also going on.
