Monimoy Das

Monimoy Das is a Civil Engineering professional with over a decade of experience in geotechnical research and the application of natural fibre-based geotextiles, particularly Jute Geotextiles (JGT), in infrastructure projects. He holds a Master of Engineering in Water Resources and Hydraulic Engineering and a Bachelor's in Civil Engineering, both from Jadavpur University. Currently serving as a Technical Officer Grade I at the Indian Jute Industries’ Research Association (IJIRA) since 2014, he has been actively involved in a wide range of R&D activities, soil testing, field implementation, and performance evaluation of JGT in roads, riverbanks, and railway embankments. His responsibilities include conducting technical training under national missions like NTTM and PMKVY 4.0, coordinating government-sponsored projects under the National Jute Board, and developing geotextile-based solutions for soil stabilization and erosion control. His technical expertise spans soil classification, CBR testing, cyclic/static pavement tank studies, and AutoCAD-based design drafting. He has also contributed to international collaborative projects, published in reputed journals and conferences, and actively participates in forums such as the Indian Geotechnical Conference and Indian Roads Congress. His early experience at the National Jute Board further enriched his hands-on knowledge in promoting JGT across various civil engineering sectors.
