Ask a Question
The partition of Bengal came into effect in October 1905. This partition reduces the old province of Bengal into two-part by creating a new area East Bengal. The British government explained that it was done to stimulate the underdeveloped East region of the Bengal. But the main objective was to 'Divide and Rule' the most advanced area of the country at that time. The main reason was to destroy the educated middle-class Bengali's political influence and set up a communal gulf between Hindu and Muslim.
