Atish Kundu

As a contemporary artist, my journey has been deeply rooted in both personal exploration and teaching. I primarily specialize in mixed media painting, drawing inspiration from rural life, social patterns, and the unseen structures that shape our everyday experience such as nets, boundaries, and enclosures.
I mostly work with mixed media on paper, combining materials like ink, thread, cloth, and textured pigments to build layered narratives. Among painting techniques, my most preferred medium is wash, especially using water-based pigments that allow transparency, depth, and a fluid movement on the surface. The unpredictable nature of the wash process reflects much of what I explore in life fluidity, adaptation, and quiet resistance.
Beyond my own art practice, I work as a private tutor and conduct online drawing and painting classes for students of different age groups and levels. Teaching art has opened up a whole new dimension of understanding for me. When I guide someone through a creative process be it sketching, watercolor, or conceptual work. I myself grow as an artist too.
My students often come from varied backgrounds, and I try to personalize each session to suit their pace and potential. Whether offline or online, I make sure that art becomes a joyful and meaningful part of their learning journey.
This dual role of being both an artist and a mentor helps me stay grounded. It reminds me that while art can be intensely personal, it also thrives in community, in exchange, and in shared imagination.
