Yes you can learn both simultaneously as both are purcussion. But you have to give more time and labour. But my suggestion is you firstly leran Tabla for few days and after completion of fingure setting on Tabla then you may start Mridangam. Another thing is mMridangam is South Indian tal where tabla bol are North Indian these differences you have to manage
