Angshuman Sarkar

I am a Civil Servant in The Indian Railway Accounts Service. I qualified on the basis of my performance in the 1991 Civil Services Examination conducted by the UPSC. I have held various posts during my career which include heading the Accounts & Finance of Howrah & Sealdah Divisions/Eastern Railway, Financial Adviser and Chief Accounts Officer/Finance Books & Budget of the Eastern Railway, General Manager(Finance) followed by Director (Finance) in Kolkata Metro Rail Corporation (KMRCL). Selection to Director (Finance) was based on an interview conducted by the Public Enterprise Selection Board (PESB), and approved by the Union Cabinet. In addition, I held another Board level post in the organization- Director (RS&T) covering areas like Rolling Stock, Traction, Telecommunication, Tunnel ventilation, etc. Incidentally, KMRCL has constructed the first and only under river Railway tunnel in the Country. Presently, I am posted as Principal Financial Adviser/Chittaranjan Locomotive Works (which is the world's largest electric locomotive manufacturing facility).
Recently, I have been empaneled as Adviser/Subject Expert by The Union Public Service Commission (this is not application based. Selection is done on the basis of academic and professional career from among very senior Civil Servants).
Prior to joining the Civil Services, I was a Lecturer in BA(Hons.)/Economics/St. Stephen's College/Delhi University teaching Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Economic Policy and Development. Recently, in the last 01 month, I delivered lecturers on Economics & Finance in 03 of the top MBA institutes of Kolkata. I have also done a course on Financial Analysis & Financial Management (11 months) from April 2024 - March 2025 from IIM/Kozhikode.
