Explain pure substance.

in very simple terms pure substances are those which are formed by only one type of atom or one type of molecule(group of atoms). like pure iron would contain only iron molecule and nothing else.

The mean of 100 observations is 50. If one of the observation which was 50 is replaced by 150 then what will be the resulting mean?

the mean of 100 observation is 50. so the summation of 100 observation is 50*100=5000. after replacing an observation of value 50 with another one of value 150 the resultant value becomes 150-50=100. now the summation is 5000+100=5100. so, the mean of 100 observation is now 5100/100=51
