“A good teacher can inspire hope, ignite the imagination and instill a love of learning”. Quoting these words of Brad Henry and paying salutations to the teachers who made me who I am today, let me pen down a few of my experiences. My intense love for the profession of teaching inspired me to continue my education into Bachelors of Education in 2009 after my graduation in Bachelor of Arts both from Bangalore University. Being the topper of my college, I was soon placed in a school at Bangalore where I had a golden opportunity to teach students who were differently abled. Though my first group of students was blind, their love for learning was intense. My first experience as a teacher taught me one great lesson that education had no constraints. You only need a mindset to learn. My very first students themselves were live examples. My tenure at the blind school was short lived as the school soon closed down due to various political reasons. Later I worked as teacher in an ICSE school and later as a teacher at St. Anton Vidyapeedom in Kerala from 2011. Though I started my career in this institution as a social science teacher, my love for the English language, has led me to teach English for the past seven years. What instilled in me the love for English as a language? That’s a question which still remains unanswered. Was it my language teacher or the beauty of the language itself? And how good a teacher I am – Let my little ones decide……. A word of advice to my beloved students- Set a goal for yourself- aim at achieving it. Never let go of your dreams – You will succeed.
