Mahendra Kumar Gangarde

I have been a language teacher since when I graduated from a Pune university,India & Post graduated from Shivaji University,India. In India I taught School/college students English as a foreign language, whil I also teach English Grammar language in our local community School/college. From the next academic school year, I will be full time high school English Literature/Grammar teacher. My over 15+ year teaching experience indicates my passion and love to the career of the language instruction.
As a passionate Language educator, my mission must include various concerns.I must focus on the student as a developing individual in learning a new language and culture, the appropriate support according to students’ different learning style and intelligence, and the learning environment as it relates to the specific needs of language development. My mission includes elevating the self-esteem of my students and fostering a positive self-image that embraces the students’ cultural roots. I will treat them with respect, dignity, compassion and understanding, while encouraging them to model these traits in all their relationships with others. I will serve as a facilitator and a motivator in challenging them with high but realistic expectations depending on their individual needs. I will teach the skills they need for success in our society that will empower them to overcome difficulties and frustrations in order to achieve their full potential academically and socially. As a representative of Indian culture, I also teach my students new perspectives on life experience that is different in many ways from their own.
My mission must incorporate creating a receptive, nurturing environment, where my students will develop ingenuity, responsibility, self-discipline and problem-solving skills. Through interactions with myself and their peers in our daily learning activities, my students will acquire the attributes necessary for positive interpersonal relationships, self-respect, respect for others and the environment and the habits of helping and sharing.

My mission also includes providing social and emotional support for my students by establishing positive relationships with students and their families. I will work as a liaison between the school and the families, providing opportunities for acculturation and socialization, while encouraging parents to become involved in their child’s education. I will foster student participation in all aspects of American society by becoming good citizens, while learning Indian language and culture.
Lastly, my mission is to increase my students’ English language proficiency in the four domains of listening, speaking, reading and writing. As a English language teacher, I am responsible for training my students to develop proficiency in the English Language and a deep understanding of the Indian & foreign culture. Through my target language teaching, I will encourage students to become life-long learners by teaching the idea that knowledge is power. With this conviction they will be able to overcome difficulties and arm themselves with the target language and new culture to meet the challenges of our information-based, rapidly changing, 21st century world. By incorporating these beliefs, they will become responsible world citizen, and be capable of
making a significant contribution to our country and our society.
