No whiteboard is not mandatory. You need some content to teach. It can be the book in pdf mode or any presentation in ppt or word. I will suggest if you have time, use presentation in PPT as this will make your class more interesting. Further, as you are teaching online, you can also share the screen with students and show them pics and videos on google to connect them with the practical world. It will enhance the student's interest in the subject.
