Informatica BDE, now known as Big Data Management (BDM), is a data integration tool from Informatica that allows users to push mapping execution onto a Hadoop cluster, enabling big data integration and transformation without writing or maintaining Apache Hadoop code. 

In Informatica, the Integration Service is a core application service that handles the execution of mappings and workflows, extracting, transforming, and loading data from various sources to targets based on metadata stored in the PowerCenter repository. 

To effectively utilize Informatica, a foundational understanding of SQL, data warehousing concepts, and ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes is highly beneficial, especially for those new to the platform. 

Informatica PowerCenter is a platform for data integration, while the Developer tool is used for designing and implementing data quality, data services, and data engineering solutions, including creating mappings and workflows that can be executed in PowerCenter. 

Informatica PowerCenter 10 introduced several new features, including enhanced data engineering integration, improved data catalog capabilities, and support for various cloud platforms and technologies, including streaming jobs on Google Dataproc and support for Google PubSub as a streaming source.
