the #1 best way to network with the cream of the crop of iOS developers is: Attend WWDC. It's easy advice but it's not cheap ($1500 or so). WWDC is Apple's conference and it has very high "production" value (as much as a conference can) but it attracts the best developers for the following reasons: The ticket comes with free access to Apple engineers and designers all week long. And I don't mean "you might see them at parties"; all week long Apple shuttles up engineers to man a lab area where you can bring your questions and monopolize an engineer -- no time limits as far as I'm aware. They also provide a bevy of Macs if you don't have a laptop (or want to try out a faster machine. ;) This is the only time you're going to get this, and if you have a difficult issue, it's your best shot at getting someone from Apple to clear things up. You get access to early information about upcoming technologies straight from Apple engineers. It's tough to put a price on this information. Getting a 45 minute brain dump from the guy who designed a brand new system is invaluable. All the other developers are there. WWDC is famous for long nights of easy going drinking and schmoozing followed by early morning wake-up calls for a punishing 8 hours of sessions (which start at 9am) or lab time.
