JEE or Joint Entrance Examination is an All-India Entrance Examination conducted by CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education) for getting into various reputed Engineering Courses across India. Earlier IIT-JEE and AIEEE were completely two different entrance examinations not related to each other. Only IIT JEE was required for IIT aspirants till 2012. However, now students aspiring to get into IITs, need to take both JEE Main and JEE Advanced (after clearing JEE Main). JEE Main is similar to AIEEE.

  • JEE-Main is an entrance exam conducted to get admission into IIITs (Indian Institutes of Information Technology), National Institutes of Technology (NITs), CFTIs (Central Funded Technical Institute) and so on.
  • JEE-Advanced is an Entrance Examination conducted to get into Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and the Indian School of Mines (ISM) (Dhanbad). The candidates who apply for JEE Main also have the option to apply for JEE Advanced. In fact, with other eligibility conditions fulfilled, the top 1.5 Lakh candidates from JEE Main are selected for JEE Advanced.

JEE Main is a National level Entrance Examination for Under-graduate Engineering programs (Governed by CBSE) for admissions into IIITs (Indian Institutes of Information Technology), National Institutes of Technology (NITs), CFTIs (Central Funded Technical Institute), and other reputed Private Universities and Colleges. These Institutes take into account your performance in Class 12 or Equivalent Qualifying Examination plus your performance in JEE (Main) Exam. The JEE Main Examination is conducted in 2 Modes – Online and Offline.

N.B.:

  • Candidates may kindly note that Paper-2 (B. Arch./B. Planning.) will be conducted on 03/04/2016 from 2.00PM to 5.00PM (IST), only in Pen & Paper based examination cities and also in Colombo, Kathmandu, and Singapore.
  • In Colombo, Kathmandu, Singapore, Bahrain, Dubai, Muscat, Riyadh and Sharjah, the Computer Based Examination for Paper – 1 will be held on 10th April 2016.
  • Some candidates may be allotted examination centre in Noida/Greater Noida/Ghaziabad /Faridabad/ Gurgaon. In case of increase in number of candidates opting the city of Delhi for Computer Based Examination of JEE (Main) 2016.

New Features of JEE Main:

In JEE Main 2016, one new feature was introduced -

  • JEE Main 2016 comes with a new feature called ‘Remove discrepancy in uploaded images option’, which allows the user to check for any discrepancy in their Scanned Uploaded Images. JEE Main 2016 official website has enabled this feature recently. With this new option, candidates can check their uploaded images and can edit or replace it, if they were not uploaded according to the specified criteria.JEE Advanced Exam
