Learning disability is not a disease which can be cured it is a neurological disorder which effects on thinking, reasoning receiving and processing information. I have dealt with all levels and types of learning disability students. Behaviour modification is a part of special education. There is a step by step process which we need to follow with patients to find a change in the child. Initially I do informal assessment as well a as formal assessment. We different assessments tools which we use in order to understand the present level of the child (PLOP). Then planning of IEP working on the specific goal in order to progress the child’s learning. We have different teaching strategies which we use as per the child’s need. Different TLMs and if the child has fine motor issue we can work on the problem and find the difference. Working on reading, spellings and comprehension part plays very major part. Cognitive approach in order to enhance cognitive skills.

Autism Spectrum Disorder is a neurological disorder where we can see repetitive patterns of behaviour in speech, flapping of hands. There are different levels in Autism profound to mild level. In association with Occupational Therapy we can work as a team to enhance the child’s learning. If the child is verbal or non verbal speech therapist also plays a very vital role in this. Needs to work as a team for over all development. Working on identification, matching, following commands these are the few initial things we need check and plan the IEP and check the progress very three months.
