IT field is such an industry where people can migrate from different domains even in there 50's, and we have a lot of examples with us.
Would you like to create something creative and outstanding applications which change the lives of people or would you want to work in a big MNC company with some good perks?
If anyone of the above two is your option, then start digging yourself in the data science field as it is the only field in IT industry which is having full integrations with a lot more languages, tools and development.
If you learn this, you can start your carrier in either of Statistical Analysis, Bigdata, Python, R, Excel, SQL, Tableau, Cloud in development as well as testing field or a combination to work as a data scientist.
