The Higher the business level and the deeper are the various processes and the importance of its connectivity with various other businesses (like Indian subsidiary company's data should be accessible to its UK/USA head office) the better it is to go for SAP or ORACLE. They are giants. It is wrong to compare these softwares without a contextual background.

How much time will it take for an Engineer to learn Tally?

Hi, this is Raghavan from F.A, the FINANCE ACADEMY, Hosur. What counts really is how much this engineer would take to understand accounts. If he takes little time (say, a month), then tally could be learnt in 10 days time. I bet.
