In short, The dance form which follows the Natyasastra can be called Classical dance. Natyasastra is a rule book of dance. In India, we have eight classical dance forms recognised by the 'Sangeeta Nataka Academy'.

Any thing classical always means the formal way of doing it . Indian classical dance actually teaches us everything we need to know about performing arts from very basics to advance level. We get the proper knowledge about the subject. Classical training makes you the master of the art.
