For many Tamilians, Tamil is their first language, and they may feel more comfortable expressing themselves in Tamil rather than Hindi, especially if they have not been exposed to Hindi extensively during their upbringing.

The perception that Tamilians hate speaking Hindi is an oversimplification and generalization that doesn't apply to all Tamil-speaking people. However, several factors contribute to some Tamilians' reluctance or resistance to speaking Hindi: Cultural Identity and Language Pride: Tamil is one of the oldest and richest languages in the world, with a deep literary and cultural heritage. Many Tamilians take great pride in their language and culture and view the imposition of Hindi as a threat to their linguistic and cultural identity. Historical Context: The resistance to Hindi imposition has historical roots. In the 1960s, there were widespread protests in Tamil Nadu against the central government's attempt to make Hindi the sole national language of India. These protests were driven by fears that non-Hindi speakers would be disadvantaged and marginalized. It's important to note that not all Tamilians are opposed to speaking Hindi. Many are bilingual or multilingual and can speak Hindi, English, and Tamil, especially in urban areas and among younger generations. The extent of resistance to Hindi varies among individuals and communities. read less

There is no hate for Hindi language from the side of Tamilians. It is just that they are very culture-oriented and thus prefer to speak in Tamil more than Hindi. That's the reason there is less Hindi influence in the southern part of the country
