Words are form with letters which have meaning. Words can't be count in any language whether it's Hindi. A language is ocean of words it's can't be counted.

Hindi ShabdSagar was published by Nagri Pracharini Sabha Kashi between 1922– 1929 in 4 volumes. It had 93000 words. It was a humongous effort made possible by donations from various Rajas. An expanded version was published between 1965 to 1975 in 11 volumes. Today there are said to be around 1.5 lakh words and including technical words in all branches of studies around 6.5 lakh words. However there is no central continuous effort or funding by anyone to revise and publish dictionary yearly like Oxford English dictionary. read less
