No it wont, frankly. Rather try to move into Business Analytics and more into Data science.

it is useful upto some extent. student can do the analysis on economics trend and demographics. i would be great if he/she would leaning the analytics along with big data. thn can do many things in economics

All I know is there is a role called Economist and they take into account several factors like inflation deflation, GDP , policies, rates, blah blah and study the historical trends understand pattern and forecast future . Big data allows you to collect store, manage and effectively work on large datasets. Say for example a scenario in which you want large datasets to be analysed for understanding the economic activity of a place , you can pull those date put it into a big data system and effectively query it or program on top of it to get better results :) just basic SQL skills enough which could be used in HIVE and get the data... read less

Prior learning Hadoop if you get some hands on experience on Java and SQL,it would be helpful and easier for you to go ahead with learning of Hadoop. But you can start learning Hadoop as it would be helful for you to switch your career once you have some experience in your backend. read less
