Is it possible to recover a NameNode in Hadoop when it is down?

To restore the NameNode from backup, follow these steps: Stop the Hadoop cluster using the “stop-all.sh” script. Copy the backup files to the NameNode machine. Start the NameNode using the “hadoop-daemon.sh start namenode” command.
