Minimum Core-Java is required, now a days, all companies are using Spark with Scala or Python, it would be great if you know at-least Core Java knowledge to understand Functional Languages as well.

Both are co-related to each other but compare to DBA Jobs, ETL job is more demanding hence you take class for informatica tools and others.
