There are lot of scope in Bigdata or hadoop if you are from testing background. Moreover, if you have a bit knowledge on Java, you can smoothly move into a dev role in Big data. Anyway, there are lot of things in Hadoop which doesnt involve Java. I don't see it a big concern.
