Tathagata Dasgupta

Hello, I’m Tathagata Dasgupta, a consultant and educator with 3 decades of experience in research, monitoring and evaluation, and data analytics. I have had the privilege of working across multiple sectors, including health, nutrition, water and sanitation, and rural development, and have led and coordinated more than 200 large-scale studies both in India and internationally.

I hold a professional certification in Principles of Marketing Research from the University of Georgia (2004), which has helped me build a strong foundation in both qualitative and quantitative research methodologies. My academic background, combined with extensive field experience, allows me to bring practical insights into the classroom, ensuring that learners gain both theoretical knowledge and applied skills.

Over the years, I have worked as a senior advisor on research projects for the Government of India, NITI Aayog, BMGF, and RIF. I have also contributed as a senior consultant with Sambodhi Capacity Building and Learning Institute, where I supported project execution and trained professionals in Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL), data analytics, and AI for public policy.

I specialize in data analysis and capacity building, and I take pride in designing courses that not only teach technical skills but also empower professionals to make evidence-based decisions. My training sessions often span 16–17 weeks and cover topics like MEL for development professionals, data insights for public policy, and AI for public policy implementation.

My approach to teaching is highly interactive and learner-focused. I believe in bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world application. In my classes, students gain hands-on experience in multivariate analysis, statistical modelling, and research project management, preparing them for both academic and professional success.

I have also conducted specialized training for government officials, including those in the State Government of Meghalaya, and I have delivered sessions at institutions like NILRD and Delhi School of Economics. These experiences have helped me understand diverse learning needs and tailor my teaching methods accordingly.

I am passionate about making data literacy accessible, ensuring that my students understand not just how to analyze data but also how to interpret it for meaningful insights. My aim is to equip learners with skills that are relevant, practical, and impactful in today’s data-driven world.
