IdentityI have spent ample time thinking about how to be a more effective student and analyst. This has led me to an approach aimed at both mastering technical subjects (as such Finance and Accounting) and breaking down case studies more generally.
With regards to Finance and Accounting, these tend to be intimidating students to even the sharpest MBAs. To help my clients tackle them, I focus on organizing and linking core concepts in these fields, synthesizing technical material into concrete processes that students can understand and replicate, and understanding how and when to apply key concepts and formulas. I also work with my clients to develop organized study guides and "cheat sheets" to keep track of the (seemingly endless) pantheon of factors and terms required of any Corporate Finance course. My results have been encouraging so far, and students have both earned the grades they've hoped for and/or earned certifications necessary for them to progress as professionals.
When it comes to case studies, MBA students are often torn: on the one hand, they want to exercise the creative judgment and critical reasoning that has helped them succeed in life to solve case prompts. On the other, however, they may find that their grades suffer if they don't incorporate sufficient theoretical and/or quantitative analysis in their briefs. I aim to bridge this gap with students, helping them break cases down into their most relevant data and key events, pair this data with theoretical concepts and frameworks, and ultima.
What makes me a great tutor is my genuine interest in my students' academic success and my individualized tutoring approach for different students and classes.
