Any Logo which is 'bold' in nature forces you to pay attention and recognize their identity. Bold logos are usually used in consumer products and services. On other hand 'Elegant' Logo represents the stability and intelligence of the brand. e.g. Infosys, Microsoft, Siemens, these kind of logos are generally used in IT and telecom industry. Boldness and elegance are not polar opposites. By framing the question like this however, you are forcing people to think of boldness and elegance in binary terms as well as in a very narrow sense. Secondly, boldness and elegance are not mutually exclusive.

How to find the correct colors to use in design? (i.e, colors for nature, Engineering, Automobiles etc) is there any rules for that?
Contrast is the key to make design effective. Contrast could be of shades, colours with the contrast in shape and sizes too. For colour scheme go thoroughly with the theory of colour-wheel & gray scale in depth.
