What is the use of deployment descriptor?

web.xml actually maps servlet url that we mention as action attribute value in form tag to actual servlet class. web.xml is helpful in providing security to our web app and flexibility.

When to use transient variables?

When you don't want to serialize a sensitive variable then you make that variable transient so that its value is not stored instead default variable value(if variable is int default value is zero) is stored .This enhances security
