There were mainly two reasons behind the partition of Bengal.

  1. The Bengal at that time included the present West Bengal, Bangladesh and Assam which made it a much larger territory to administer over.
  2. In those days, there was a rise in emerging cultural and social organisations in Bengal, leading to increased protest against the British Raj.

Bengal being large territory made it a difficult task for Britishers to take control over such increasing protests. Therefore, they decided to partition it into two parts.

  1. The Bengal at that time included the present West Bengal, Bangladesh and Assam which made it a much larger territory to administer over.
  2. In those days, there was a rise in emerging cultural and social organisations in Bengal, leading to increased protest against the British Raj.

Bengal being large territory made it a difficult task for Britishers to take control over such increasing protests. Therefore, they decided to partition it into two parts.
