Is it best to use a secondary computer when hacking or is it okay as long as you have virtual box and a wireless card?

if you don't have a secondary computer it's ok. you can still able to do practice and even can perform pen testing from your virtual machine

You can use Virtual box but keep in mind of taking tangential measures like using proxy and vpn for hacking.
