Teaching Experience in detail in Class 12 Tuition
My Journey as a PGT Economics Teacher & CBSE Examiner* Teaching Economics to Classes XI and XII in a CBSE school for over twenty years has been one of the most fulfilling parts of my life. To see students move from “What is demand?” in Class XI to critically analyzing Union Budgets and global inflation trends in Class XII is a transformation I’m proud to have facilitated. In my classroom, NCERT was always the base, but never the boundary. We discussed demonetization when it happened, tracked GDP data every quarter, and debated farm laws and GST — because Economics is alive. My aim was simple: make students think like economists, not just score like examinees. From 2010 to 2024, I also had the honor of serving as a CBSE Board Examiner for Class XII Economics. Sitting on the other side of the table was eye-opening. Evaluating hundreds of scripts each year taught me three things: 1. The marking scheme rewards clarity, not length. 2. Diagrams and correct formulas fetch marks even if the explanation falters. 3. Most marks are lost not in tough questions, but in 1-mark MCQs and 3-mark numericals due to silly errors. I brought these insights straight back to my students. We practiced “examiner’s perspective” sessions, timed writing drills, and “find the mistake” worksheets. The result was not just better scores, but more confident learners. After two decades, I can say CBSE has evolved — from rote to competency, from content to concept. And I evolved with it. What hasn’t changed is the joy of that moment when a student finally gets the logic behind “why the demand curve slopes downward..
