How do I achieve white high-tones in pencil drawing?

There are many ways of adding highlights to sketches. You can leave empty space along the area where you want to add white highlights. My preferred method is using a white gel pen. You can also use paint.

Once you are have worked with all grades like h, hb, 2b,3b,4b,5b,6b,7b,8b and 10b, then think of using white marker, white pencil. Etc. White high-tones are achieved when you use a light pencil or white charcoal to create them. When you shade with a lighter pencil, the graphite becomes more opaque and reflects more light. This means that the lights become whiter and brighter. The hues of colors will also change because of this.
