Is C# necessary to become an ASP.NET developer? Because I know only a few basics of C#.

Yes, But needs to learn few more concepts for updated technologies like MVC ,Entity framework etc

For asp.net you can go for c# or vb.net if you know c# thats fine, you can learn easily

C# is not necessary, you can use VB or c++ as well but C# is widely used you will also get the job easily.
