Bit difficult question. Based on your question I understand you are just a beginner, so making you understand is bit difficult. This is completely depends on requirements. Is your collage has branches? even No, you can create app in asp. net. I am bit technical here rather than explaining why we need asp .net in particular because you just want to know whether you can use it or not. you can use it. take asp.net MVC as front end, mysql / sql server as back end based on budget. read less
