Hi..Before jumping onto .NET AJAX..Please try to learn .NET framework and normal .NET codes. .NET AJAX will require lil knowledge of web forms , postback and stuffs. This is my honest opinion. Once you re comfortable in .NET and have done ample coding..you can very well jump to AJAX.
